Dr. Ueli Zaugg worked after receiving his Agriculture
Engineer degree as an Assistant at the Animal Husbandry Department
at the Federal Institute of Technology under Prof. F. Weber from
1971 – 1975. During this time he supervised the cattle section
of the University research station.
His dissertation was a breed comparison between imported USA Holstein,
Swiss Simmental and original Braunvieh cattle. For 4 years (1975-1979),
he was the technical advisor at the Commission of Swiss Cattle Breeders
Federation in Bern, Switzerland. His main duties were helping foreign
clients select cattle for export, trouble shooting in connection
with the exported cattle at different locations worldwide and doing
Public Relations work for the Swiss breeds internationally.
Having the opportunity of managing a 700 km2 ranch in Arizona for
a Swiss Investment Company for 4 years, he became familiar with
ranching, particularly management and nutrition under extreme desert
conditions.
Since 1983, he has been the owner of ZAUGG DAIRY NUTRITION. He
specializes in consulting large dairy farms in the Southwest of
the USA in the field of Nutrition and Management. Presently he consults
17 clients with a total of 30,000 dairy cows. Optimum production
with healthy cows and economical feed costs are his main objectives.
He speaks English and German fluently and as well as some French.
